25 Days Of Christmas~Time To Start Making Gifts!

Whew!
Well it’s time to start making gifts and getting ready to spread some cheer!
So, now I’ll be focusing on fun stuff to make and give out to the cool peeps on your list :)

Today I’ll start with some fun tea light gift packs……..
Great for everyone, especially teachers or neighbors.
And…….
Super easy and inexpensive to make, even my 5 year-old made some without help
and they looked good!
Gather some:

Tealight candles~5 per pack

Pretzel cellophane baggies

Scrap white tissue paper

Stamps & Ink

Ribbon & Tags (you can download the tags here)

Embossing gun or hairdryer with high heat setting

Teeny tiny hole punch and regular hole punch

I first saw these here on Creative Itch who originally saw it here on Inking Idaho (check both these sites out, they’re so cute!)
They made cute little boxes for them too, but since I plan on making a bunch for the Santa store at my daughter’s school…….I took the lazy easy route and used cellophane pretzel bags :)
But, still cute!

So, start by stamping your images onto the tissue paper (I found the smoother side takes the ink better).
It also doesn’t matter how big the image is……you’ll cut it to size :)

Then, cut each stamped image out to size (The diameter of the top of the candle is slightly bigger than 1 3/8″, so if you have that size punch, use it! but, back the tissue with some stiffer paper first).
The easiest way to get the right size is to trace the bottom of the candle over the stamped image, then cut it out inside the pencil lines and trim, if needed.

Punch tiny holes in the center of each image and slide it onto the the wick of the candle.

Use your heat embosser (or hairdryer) and melt the top layer of wax till the tissue paper “melts” into the top. You’ll need to use something long and heat-resistant to help hold onto the tissue while you melt the wax (unless you want to try to get matching welts on your fingers to match the Christmas red)……I used a nice, sharp, kid-safe bamboo skewer.

Wait till they cool and slide them into the bag (5 per bag), then add a tag and tie with a ribbon (or hemp cord).

Ta da!
I made these with our Activity Days girls (8~11 yr-olds), and they all looked so cute!On the original ones…..they also cut small strips of paper and glued them around the sides to match the box…….but I got lazy tired and had to stop there. But, it looks cute, so you guys should do definitely do it :)

Just be sure to let people know that these are for decoration only. I was curious (I’m always curious and might end up burning down our house some day) and tried to burn a few…….
and most DID’T BURN WELL!
But, a few burned alright…….but to be on the safe side…….
So, on the tags, I just said “For decoration only or carefully melt the top of candle and remove design before burning”.They can just do it with tweezers and a hairdryer.

So, have fun and come back for more “25 Days” FUN!

AND a giveaway on Wed……..

You guys will LOVE it!!!!
