More Magnetic Fun!

So, you all know how much I LOVE anything magnetic……right?
Well, Greenbean over at Green Bean’s Crafterole posted this on the NSIH Flickr Group (who saw it here) and LOVED it! (duh, it involves magnets)
So, I tried it out for a friend’s birthday recently and came out with this cuteness.

Then, I got a larger shingle and made this awesome-ness to hang in out living room and show off some cute family pics.

I did end up splurging and got a round-it-all (on sale!) from       since these are so cute and I had lovely visions of myself making these for many, many gifting occasions in the coming years. You can also use tin shears from your local hardware store…….like the ones (my hubby’s) that I used on this first one I made. OR you can NOT round the corners since you can sand down the sharp edges a little with sand paper.

So, you will need:

5×7 or 8×12 metal roofing shingle (also called metal flashing)
Cute paper
Matching ribbon
Small piece of sandpaper
Round-it-all or tin shears

Start by rounding up the corners of the shingle and sand down all the edges a little (and all the sides since those are pretty dang sharp too!)

Cut out your paper and snip the corners of those to match. Then, adhere it to the shingle and ink the edges.

For the ribbon holes at the top, I used the idea that Angie showed off here on her awesome UTube tute and made a template by cutting some scrap paper the same width and folding it in half twice…..then, that’s where I  punched the holes up top.

Some of the magnets I made like the glass ones I posted about here….and some others I just glued magnets onto the back of ca-ute chipboard shapes I happened to have lying around.
