I love finding creative ways to wrap gifts and send them off to friends and family. And sometimes part of the gift can even be the wrapping itself!
This cute bag can be something you throw some treats in, or a small gift for friends, neighbors, teachers, or anybody! These take about 20 minutes to make (or less if you are better at sewing than me), so you can whip out a whole bunch for all your gifting needs. If you want to take a shortcut, you can forgo the home made drawstrings and just use twine, ribbon, or jute instead.
The finished bag is around 7 1/2 inches tall x 8 inches wide
You’ll need:
Cute fabric of your choice (1/4 yard)
Matching thread
Safety Pin
Start by cutting your fabric 18 inches x 8 1/2 inches (if you want the same size as mine).
Sew 1/4″ seam up each side. hopefully not as uneven as mine.
Sew a 1 1/2″ seam at each end.
Then, sew the wrong side together till you reach the top seam.
If you want the bottom to be gusseted and be able to stand up on it’s own….., sew in the corner about 1 inch as shown and cut off the extra.
Turn right side out….cute so far!
For the ties….start with 2 pieces of fabric 20 inches long by 2 inches wide. Iron as shown and then sew up the open side. I didn’t sew the ends since there’s no way they will come undone.
Pull the drawstrings through as shown using a safety pin.
Tie the ends together…..and ta-da!!
I love these bags! They’re so cute and easy to make and I LoVe the fabric!! I just wanna wrap myself up in it forever!
It’s the perfect size to stash some treats or small toys or just about anything you can get inside it.
What kinds of things do you like to give as neighbor gifts….or those awesome teachers who tolerate teach out sweet kiddos all year?
Have fun!
