If you’re like me, you are still scrambling to get things done and that includes the trying to find a way to show your friends and neighbors that you think they’re awesome. I wanted to make something that would be usable for the whole family and not just sweets (which I love BTW….just in case you wanted to bring any my way).
So I thought and though (and then got strep throat) and thought some more. And this is what I came up with and I love it ‘cuz it’s 1. cheap 2. easy (since I made the free printables for ya) & 3. super fun for the whole family! I got the cards and dice at the Dollar Tree and the score sheets I made into printables too and you just need to cut down.
I did have to make my own bags though, since I wasn’t able to find something that I liked anywhere else. But, I made them super simple so don’t worry….and I’ll show you how to make them too. Score!
If you don’t sew or aren’t in the mood….you can package this all up in a cute gable box or something similar.
Premium muslin fabric (I got mine at Joanns for cheap and on sale)
Deck of cards ~ Dollar Tree in a 2 pack (that’s only .50 cents each!)
Dice ~ Dollar Tree too
Printables ~ Right here….Yay!
Start with the bags. For each bag cut 2 pieces of fabric 9 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ (to make bags that are 8 1/2″ x 5″). Fold down the tops 1″ and sew in place. Then, sew both pieces together (wrong sides out) using a 1/4″ seam. Last, clip the corners before turning it right side out.
See…..? So easy!! (sorry the pics are a little hard to see)
Now print out these score sheets and cut them down. I added very light dotted lines for you to cut on so they won’t be seen if you miss any. Add as many as you think your friends will need….I added 18.
Lastly, print out the game instructions and laminate them so they’re nice ‘n sturdy. I like to laminate first and then cut, so I don’t have to cut twice…..and that way gets rid of sharp plastic edges.
Punch a hole in the corner and add a ring (this was a key ring since I had some extras lying around). There are tons and TONS of card and dice games….but I had to pare it down to 3 pretty simple games for each.
Throw in the cards, dice, and score sheets….bundled up with pretty twine, of course.
Add the instructions booklet and tie it with twine or ribbon….
Ta da!! You’ve got cheap and easy gifts to give away to allllllll your friends and neighbors.
This is a fun gift to give just about anyone…even peeps with no kiddos. I really liked the idea of making something fun for the whole family and something that they could even keep around for while and get a lot of use out of.
There are instructions for 3 dice games and 3 card games, and they can even play Yahtzee….the instructions were just too long for me to add to these.
What else do you usually do for neighbor gifts?
Have a fun last few days before Christmas!
