My girlies are getting older and have started showing more interest in learning more “grown up” activities, like sewing. But, of course they need to start off with the simpler types of projects…..and since I’m a champ at sewing straight lines (and somewhat wiggly)….that’s exactly what I teach them.
I’ve been on the lookout for some cute things they can start off with and these are some that caught my eye!
This Cloud Pillow is such a cute spin on a Tooth Fairy pillow!
Need to keep a little warmer this winter? Help your kiddos make some simple Reversible Scarves.
These Fabric Keychains would make a fun rainy day craft! And you can use some of those fabric scraps up.
Try your hand at some easy Fabric Headbands to keep those stray hairs at bay.
Let your girlie learn how to make their own American Girl Doll dress in no time at all!
Blow your kids’ minds, by teaching them how to sew on paper!….and make some cute Corner Bookmarks.

Need something to do with old t-shirts? Get the kids busy sewing some Recycled T-Shirt Totes.
Valentine’s Day is coming, so the kids can make some of these cute Valentine Heart Pins to hand out in class.
Every kiddo loves a cute pillowcase….and they can even make these Pillow Cases for a great cause.
After they make the cases, they can have fun with some “no rules” Silly Pillows.
Going on a trip? Kiddos can make this fun Felt Tic Tac Toe Game to keep the boredom at bay. Go here to see even more travel tips with kiddos.

Have the kiddos make some easy Scented Sachets for some great gifts to give to anyone.
Hope this list gets you excited to get sewing with the kiddos! Start off teaching them the basics like how to get started and back-stitching (and straight lines too!) and they will be hooked for sure. You can build on the basics bit-by-bit.
*Things to Watch out for*
~Hilarity while kids are getting used to findingĀ the right pressure when using the foot pedal. Makes me laugh so hard when it scares them when they get it going to fast and then they’ll freak out and just stop completely….priceless!
~Kids having fun with you as they learn (and succeed at) something new….priceless as well!
Have fun!
Thanks for sharing such adorable ideas! I like tic tac and valentines’ designs among all, would like to try them on pillow.
Thanks! Yeah, that would be fun!
I would like to see instructions on your little felt hearts but it leads you to a website that has a warning on it for a virus. Any other way I can see this?
