Introducing~ Jess, The Fun Instagram Mom! A New Series

I am so excited for this post today because I get to introduce you all to such an awesome person….and someone I miss so badly! That’s why I tricked her into doing a series on my blog about all the fun stuff she posts about on Instagram that she does with her cute kiddos. But, I’ll stop here and let her tell you all the rest:

I chose this life and I WILL enjoy it

Since I can remember I wanted to 1. Get married young (early 20’s) to my love 2. Have babies. LOTS of babies. 3. Make them PB&J on WHITE bread (story for another time) for school lunches and 4. Have warm chocolate chip cookies on a pretty plate ready to be served to my kids as they walk in the door from school.
That was it. And I was lucky enough to get it.

So, I get sooooo mad at myself on the days that I don’t “enjoy” all that comes along with 1 husband, 4 kids, about 2.3 million toys to clutter the house, 1 beta fish, 12 eyeballs with pink eye, and 15 extra post baby pounds.

Not saying I think it is “normal” (whatever that is) to be happy 100% of the time. But I just tell myself “self, this is what you DREAMED of. You wanted this so badly. So remember why, so buck up and make it fun!” it works 9 times out of 10… Ok, maybe 4-6 out of 10?

Emily, (the fabulous creator of this blog and my very very good friend who broke my heart when she moved 16 hrs away from me (I’m not holding a grudge) thinks I’m a fun mom. Hmmm. If only people could be a fly on your very private “not having a nice mom day” wall.

I will say that every once in awhile I’ll dig through my “a good mom would do…” board on Pinterest and execute something cool for my kids and I to do together. Or a fun idea will just pop into my brain and I’ll be nice enough to give it a go. Like when I made Christmas photo booth props to bring along Christmas eve.

 {Disclaimer: My iPhone is also my camera. My only camera. So I use Instagram to edit my photos. Don’t expect top notch photoshopped pictures. I may throw in a little “amaro” “lo-fi” or “hefe” filter with some extra blur on a good day *wink*}

Anyone still reading this or did I put you to sleep?! I guess this goes to show a girl needs someone to talk to!
Here is a run down of a few things I did to “enjoy” my chosen chaos recently….And I don’t mean hiding in the pantry eating my husbands KitKat bar.

 1. It’s highly encouraged from our church  to do FHE (family home evening) once a week. Sadly, I just haven’t got on that once a week train. But as its the new year I made it a resolution to have FHE 52 times this year! So this week my husband and I read a story out of our church’s children’s magazine about being honest, to our kids and then we played “headbandz”. The kids loved this family time and because they were happy when my husband and I were happy.

2. That was after eating a dinner my kids actually approved.

     Grandmas Chicken and Rice:

Mix together: 1 cup H2O, 2 cans cream of chicken (or 1 can cream of mushroom and 1 can cream of celery is you so gag), 1 pkg onion soup mix, 1 cup uncooked rice.

I buy 1 whole cut up chicken but you can use chicken tenders if you prefer (they will just be a little dryer).

Layer the meat on top of rice mixture in 9×13. Sprinkle with seasoning salt. Bake at 350^ for 1 3/4 hr.

3. Continued on with week 2 of the beach body “insanity” program. My 12 week-er is just the best baby EVER so I don’t blame her for my belly ;)

4.  And I’m reading a page turner “Amanda Knox Waiting to be heard:  A memoir”.

Thought I should introduce you to my kids now since they are reason I am (sometimes) fun. Their interests are my inspiration behind the things we do around here.

Riley is my oldest….6 years old and loves to craft. She turns anything and everything into some kind of craft project and has to keep them all. FOREVER. Which drives me insane.

Braden is 4 and is a cuddler! He loves it best if I am playing WITH him or if I give him a string to tie things up with (I’m easily replaced I guess….)

Max just turned 2 and this picture pretty much sums him up. He is my “wild boy”.  He is so much fun and keeps me on my toes.

Looks like I’ll be showing up on Emily’s blog about once a month (blush!) I hope to share with you fun things I have done to keep the kids entertained and to remind myself to have fun with them! They grow up way to fast right?!

Ok, take my word for it….this girl is so fun! Annnnnnnd they have the stinkin’ cutest kiddos {besides my own, of course} So stay tuned and….
