Blogging Tips~ Make A Schedule Already....and Stick to It! By:

So, does this sound familiar to you? You finally have the house to yourself (or at least your tiny computer area at the kitchen table while little ones are sleeping), but you just. can’t. get. to. that. post.? You are ready to sit down and bang it all out, but you keep getting distracted by that towering pile of laundry, a counter~full of dirty dishes, or even that beautiful sunny day that’s beckoning you outside.

Yep, I’m there every single day, my friend. In fact, that’s the whole reason I made these super awesome mugs!

In addition to being distracted by 3 busy girlies and running a household with a hubby who is gone a lot, I also have ADD and OCD….which is super fun when trying to sit down for lengths of time and organizing enough cohesive thoughts to put into a post (in case you were wondering).

So, I’ve started to keep myself to a schedule. Yes, a schedule…..Even on weekends.

Get mentally ready for your day

It helps me to make out my schedule the night before, so everything is fresh in my mind, and just in case there have been any last-minute changes. But, you can make up yours however much in advance you need and then make changes as necessary to make way for appts or last-minute meetings etc.

Keeping to a schedule and knowing what my next day looks like helps me to get into the frame of mind I need to be in when I get up the next morning, amid the flurry of distractions that start bombarding me right away. I can mentally prepare and ready myself for each thing I need to get done that day.

And the best part? A schedule definitely helps me stick to my blogging and Etsy store management a lot better. I get so much more done each day when I have things set ahead of time than I do just “winging” it.

Don’t forget to take “me” time too

In addition to helping me get ready for things I need to do….having a schedule helps me to schedule in some break time as well. I always make sure I have a “lunch” break where I can rest, put my feet up, and slowly eat my lunch for the only time I am able “slowly” eat food each day. Giving myself a break from my Etsy store owner/mommy/blogger schedule helps me recharge for the rest of my day and not feel like I’m going to pass out come dinner time.

If I don’t take my break….I tend to get distracted easier and waste more time throughout the day, till I finally give up and just cruise FB the rest of the night or sit and watch re~runs of Friends.

Even if you’re not a blogger….make a schedule

No matter what you have going on in your life, you should seriously consider a daily schedule to help you stay on track with anything you need to do each day. Whether it’s taking care of kiddos, chores, a full-time job outside the home (or all those, whew!), making, and sticking to, a schedule can really benefit anyone’s life.

Yep, that means you.

Have fun!
