Harry Potter Birthday Party Games~Part 4

Harry Potter Birthday Party Games~Part 4 By: NotSoIdleHands.com

Well, this is finally the last part of our huge Harry Potter party and I’m so excited! This last part is all about the games we played and fun things we did to make it feel like the kiddos were actually at Hogwarts attending classes. See the other parts here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

At the front door, we hung a brick backdrop to make the kids feel like they were walking through Platform 9 3/4. Our door is waaaaaaaaaaaay tall, so the effect was different than I had hoped, but they all loved it ;)

I found this cool plastic stone covering that we were able to hang up around the house to make things look very castle~y {is that a word?}

And also made some easy peasy “house” banners to hang as well. I printed out the pictures from here and pasted them onto felt banners I had glued onto wood dowels.

Once everyone had arrived and gotten their glasses and necklaces, we started with Olivander’s Wand Shop….played by my super hot hubby who did a great job helping the kiddos pick out their wands.

Hubs and my dad made these out of wooden dowels as well and used a sander to make them each unique. Then stained and sealed them. The party goers were SO happy to have their own special wands that  “chose” them.

After they got their wands, we moved on to Potions Class. In each clear cup, I put a few drops of food coloring and hid it with some “Powdered Mandrake Root” or baking soda. We had each one in a bowl, so we wouldn’t end up with a mess all over the table. Then, the kids got a cup of “Phoenix Tears” or vinegar. At first they dripped a little and then got to pour the whole cup in and watch the explosion.

After that, we had our Hogwarts themed snacks from this post. {get the sign download here}

And then moved on to Charms Class….with the coolest Charms professor ever! Along with our special guest Hedwig who wanted to sit on my shoulder, but couldn’t quite do it. I used signs for the classes I downloaded here.

After Charms class we wrapped things up with presents and then an authentic Hagrid cake that tasted Oh, so good {not at all like in the book}

We tried to make it sloppy and lopsided and hubs did awesome with the writing on top!
