Well, the weather here has been pretty warm lately, but it will get definitely get frosty again soon and the kiddos have been longing for snuggly warm things to cuddle up with on those days.

We were lucky to hit up Joanns on black Friday when they had some screaming deals on fleece and got tons of it for %70 off. The girls really wanted to help make these, so they aren’t going to be Christmas gifts….but these would definitely be awesome for presents!

We made ours with 2 yards of each fabric {3 layers….so 6 yards altogether}. I would recommend longer for older kiddos since these end up being 64″ {after tying} and we will need to go get more fabric for my 10 year old’s bag. But they definitely love them!!

You will need:

2 yards each of 3 layers of fabric {6 yards altogether} Longer for the older kiddos.

Scissors

A few good T.V. shows

That’s it!!

Start with your fabric and cut all the selvage off the sides. The part that usually has writing on it…

Then, lay all the layers out, and pull the top down about 11 inches and trim at the bottom. This will be the top/blanket and the kids will need to be able to slide down in the bag. Then, trim the sides down to 38″ wide. If you use printed fabric, make sure the bottom layer faces down and out and the middle & top layers face up and out.

Cut squares out of each corner….about 4″ x 4″ and then cut fringe around the whole thing…..about 1″ x 4″ each. If you’ve ever made regular tie blankets like this, you will know this is where the t.v. shows start coming in handy!

Now get a~tyin’ {not sure if that’s a real word or not}. But, tie each stack of strips in a knot. It takes awhile, so catch up on your Netflix queue here.

Very cute! This one is for our youngest and she loves it already!

Here it is all rolled up. If you want to see how I made the quick straps for it…..keep scrolling down. They were super duper easy and are reusable.

Grab your ribbon…I used some thick grosgrain for this. Wrap some around each end and cut to size…leaving about 2 inches extra.

Then add some adhesive velcro to each end. {so easy, right?}

Then tie a strip of ribbon for a “handle” onto both straps.

This makes it easy to store and for the kiddos to carry around.

These are nice and cozy and your kiddos {or grandkiddos} will love it!! They are so easy to make…just need to cut and tie ;)

Have fun!
