I love a good sugar scrub, and when it smells like pumpkin pie and brown sugar…..that’s even better! I’ve been making my own scrub for years, so I thought it was about time to do a post about it and share my secret recipe {wink, wink}.

I even made some printable labels, so you can be a rock star and give out jars to your besties for Christmas. All this dry winter skin needs some TLC, after all.

What you need:

~Cute Weck Jars {I carry them in my Etsy Shop}

~Brown sugar

~Coconut oil {fractionated, so you don’t have to melt it}

~Sweet Almond oil {you can get both here….this is where I get all my supplies!}

~Vitamin E oil

~Pumpkin Pie Spice {just grab some at the grocery store}

Add all the ingredients to a bowl. It’s easier to mix in a bowl and then scoop into the jars.

Measure out:

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup sweet almond oil

1/8 cup coconut oil

1~2 teaspoons vitamin E oil

2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice {add more or less depending on how strong you want it}

Mix it all well till it looks kinda like this. Make sure you incorporate the spice well. You can play with the ratios of sugar to oil, but I don’t like mine too oily and this works great.

Scoop it into the jars and make sure to pack it down so it’s nice and full.

Your friends will LOVE you! Coconut oil is awesome for dry skin and a great moisturizer. It also has disinfectant and antimicrobial properties and can lighten dark spots on skin. Coconut oil has lots of antioxidants and you can even use it on your face!

Gently massage a little pure coconut oil onto your face for 30 seconds and ┬áthen hold a warm, wet towel on your skin {to open the pores}. After 15~30 seconds wipe away excess oil….without scrubbing. You can gently wipe away again, but the rest your skin should absorb. This can be your makeup remover and can help with acne!

The sweet almond oil is great for your skin as it is also a superb moisturizer, has anti~inflammation properties for those with sensitive skin, and can help with wrinkles, dark spots, and sun damage. I also like it because it’s less greasy than most oils. Using brown sugar is good for sensitive skin since the granules are smaller.

Other oils that you can use in this are:

Olive Oil~ Has a lot of the same properties as Sweet Almond Oil, but easier to get. Absorbs slower in the skin and a little thicker and I’m not a fan of the smell, but if using essential oils or spice in this, it should be fine.

Grapeseed Oil~Good for treating acne {has antioxidants and vitamin C} and moisturizing and has little or no smell. But it’s thicker and oilier than most oils.

Avocado Oil~Awesome for moisturizing, absorbs fast, and has antioxidants like vitamins A, D, and E which can help the skin be more supple, and help heal from sun damage and age. It also can increase collagen production and is fantastic to mix with olive oil.

The possibilities are endless with this stuff and you can even use regular sugar or salt with these scrubs. You can get these cool Weck jars in my Etsy Shop.

Have fun!
