Do you have some old t~shirts hanging around screaming for a new purpose? Use them to make some adorable new bracelets and if you make them in green they can even help keep you from being pinched this St. Patty’s Day!

Start by cutting your knit t~shirts into 1 inch strips. If you don’t have any old t~shirts to cut up, you can run over to your local fabric store and buy a bit {you can buy fabric a few inches at a time if you don’t need a whole yard}.

Pull it till it stretches kinda like this…. Make sure the knit you get is a lighter knit, the heavy stuff won’t stretch.

When you’re ready to braid, tape it to the table to keep the bracelet in place.

For this 5 strand one, separate all the strands and pull the outside left strand over the next 2 strands to make it the new middle strand.

Then, pull the outside right strand over the next 2 strands to make it the new middle strand. Keep doing this all the way till it’s long enough for you.

I also made one with just 3 strands and braided it the regular way and one type of fabric.

When you get to the end, tie {or sew} the other end to secure it and then tie {or sew} the 2 ends together.

To hide the ends, I hot~glued a piece of scrap fabric around that part.

You can make these a snug fit since they have some stretch and  you can still get them on easy peasy.

These are great for the kiddos to make too!

Have fun whipping some of these out for every outfit in your closet, and don’t forget some for St. Patty’s Day.

Have fun!
