Quick As A Flash Felt Wallets ~Great For Beginners

Quick As A Flash Felt Wallets ~Great For Beginners @NotSoIdleHands.com

My kiddos have been wanting to flex their sewing muscles more and more, so I’m always trying to think up little projects that are cute and useful. And we decided to match the thread to the ribbon, so it shows up against the felt.

Today we made these little felt envelope wallets and they turned out perfect! I like felt for kids’ projects since you can just slap some together and sew it up without worried about seams and hemming or fraying and it comes in tons of colors. We also got to use some of this super adorable elastic ribbon that we carry in our Etsy Shop!

You’ll Need:

1 sheet of craft felt

6 1/2″ of elastic ribbon

This pattern {the finished wallet should be 3.5″ x 5.5″}

1. Start by cutting the felt pieces with the pattern and choose your ribbon.

2. Sew around the edges with a 1/4″ seam allowance

3. Trim the ribbon to size

4. Ta~da! Cute envelope wallet!

So easy huh?

They can use them to stash their cash…or other small treasures

This is a great project for kids since they can see their stitches well and all they need to do is cut 2 pieces and sew around the edges once. Then, they get to use it for a wallet, to mail to a pal {in another envelope, of course}

I made 4 more in different colors too!

These work great to stash party favors in too.

Have fun whipping up a bunch of these cuties with the kiddos, or even just for yourself….I won’t tell ;)

Have fun!
